Woolf and Son, a major tropical fish farmer and supplier, established a large hatchery first in Gibsonton, but quickly relocated to Adamsville where it supplied tropical fish, by air, to market around the United States. This is the 1925 Subdivision Plan filed with the County in order to offer lot sales to begin the planned Sun City, designed to be the HOllywood of the east. Note that the names of all of the streets are named for elements of the Silent Film industry, stars, studios or producer/directors. This plat is on file at the Clerk's Office in Hillsborough County in the Subdivision Book Number 17 on Page 21. Take note, also, that the studio was built in the large area on the east side of the development...

1843 External Boundary Survey of Township 30S, Range 20E.

Abstract/Description
-
This initial external boundary survey of T30S, R20E is irregular due to the reserved lands (by the Federal Government) set aside for Fort Brooke in Tampa. Originally, the military reservation, which includes the mouth of the Alafia River, as 16 miles square, and no settlers were permitted inside this reservation without the specific permission of the US Army. The reservation was reduced in size in July 1848.

Adaline Miller house.

This home, which is today listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sits at the corner of today's US 41 and College Avenue. It was reportedly designed by Adaline Miller, based on drawings of a Swiss Chalet that she found in a favored book. The building served Ruskin College as both a classroom and as the home for President George Miller and his wife, and Vice President of the College, Adaline Miller. Today it is owned by the Ruskin Woman's Club and serves as their headquarters.
