Bahia Beach Hotel Boatel Postcard.
-
Abstract/Description
-
Closer view of Bahia Beach Hotel and Boatel. Note the excursion boat moored on the left side of the photograph. Bahia Beach offered excursions up the Little Manatee in its earliest years as a resort hotel. Judging from the lack of boats moored and the lack of cars, it can be assumed that this is one of the earliest professional pictures of the hotel prior to its opening.

There were no annual dues and an honorary membership was given to anyone who tied up their boat at the boat docks at Bahia Beach. The first mention of the Yacht Club in Tampa papers was in June 1966 when the 800th honorary member, Captain Johnson of Bradenton and a fishing captain operating out of Cortez, was featured in the June 25, 1966 edition of the Tampa Bay Times.
